All Eyes on Me is a geometric abstract quadriptych that plays the material flatness of paint on board against the illusion of ambiguous deep space. The four panels deliver a composition of two interlocking wormholes: an orange-red Einstein-Rosen bridge, intersected by a tonal torus surface. A wormhole is a structure of connection, a passage between two points where an input and an output join. The torus has no true beginning or end, just a continuous surface spinning on an axis. Both are impossible shapes that only truly exist in pure mathematics.
All Eyes on Me is about the act of painting itself. It presents a conversation between ‘us’ – the painting and myself – about form, scale, layering and colour. Each decision revealed another pictorial dilemma to resolve. The composition started as a series of small, restrained pen drawings – tight and deliberate, at the scale of the hand. As the work was scaled up, it became linked to my movement and the proportions of the body. Echoing the push and pull of the wormhole and torus themselves, these broad sweeping gestures move over the plane to render the surface as a shifting field, a negotiation.
Claire Fletcher (2000) is a visual artist practicing between Ngunnawal Country in Canberra and Yuin Country in Broulee. She completed her Bachelor of Visual Arts at the Australian National University (ACT) in 2025. She uses painting, photography, and print media to explore sensation, memory, and lived experience.
Claire has contributed to several group shows in artist-run spaces, including: Edition 6, More Than Reproduction, Our Neon Foe, Sydney and Delicious FREAK, Sawtooth, Launceston. In 2025, she had a year-long residency at Megalo Print Studio as part of the ANU Emerging Artists Support Scheme. Since graduating, she has worked with several not-for-profit arts organisations, including M16 Artspace, Photo Access and Narooma Arts Centre.
